ADDING PICTURES TO A POST

To insert an image into a post or reply message:
1. The image(s) have to be transferred (uploaded) to the Active Board. Do this as follows:

A. below the white area where the message is composed are two check-boxes, one of which is labeled "Attach Image(s)"; check that box by clicking it.
(This is a tiny square at the bottom to the left.)

B. Checking the box (square) causes a new area to open up where up to ten images can be specified for uploading.
(This area has lots of long flat white windows.)

C. To specify the first image file, click the button labeled "Browse…" located to the right of the white box for "File Name 1:" (first long flat white window)

D. This opens a browse window in which you should locate the file you wish to upload; click the name of the file, for example, Orchid.jpg. (You select a picture from your computer.)

NOTE THAT FILE NAMES THAT CONTAIN BLANKS OR CERTAIN PUNCTUATION CHARACTERS WILL CAUSE THE UPLOAD TO FAIL, SO USE SIMPLE FILE NAMES. THE FILE NAMES ARE NOT VISIBLE IN THE TEXT.

E. Now click the "Open" button on the browse window.
(This is the bright blue button at the lower right of the browse window on a Mac.)

F. The name of the file will appear in the area labeled "File Name 1", and the full location of the file will appear in the area labeled "Source File".

G. Repeat steps A to F to specify additional image files.

H. Once all the images have been specified, scroll to the bottom of the 10 file names and click the button labeled "Upload File(s)". An activity indicator will appear while the file(s) are uploaded.
(This activity indicator looks like a whirling daisy.  If it whirls for a very long time then it is best to stop and try again later.)

2. After the files are uploaded, new lines appear underneath "Attach Image(s)", one line per uploaded file, for example:
Attached: Orchid.jpg [remove] [insert]

3. To add an image to your text, position the cursor in the text where the image should be placed.

4. Scroll to the line below "Attach image(s)" for the image you are inserting, and click the word "insert" on that line.   The image should appear in the typing area of your post.

Finish the post and Submit it!
(The "submit" button is at the very bottom of the window
which will be below the picture
way down past all the  tiny parts of the "file upload" area.)

Uploading a Picture of you or  your "Avatar" to your Profile

When you look at the top of this page you will see on the horizontal menu bar the choice for clicking Your Details

This is in the row of choices

When you click Your Details a box appears where you can add your profile if you wish to.  On the left side of that box is a vertical menu including the choice for "Avatar".  When you click Avatar you can upload a picture from your own browser, and voila your picture will appear each time you post a comment or reply on the forum.  You can also change your Avatar anytimeby clicking theAvatar button and going through the steps.

Looking forward to seeing your picture!
